Browsers that can run WordySpot

The extension is what marks the words you are still learning on every page you read. Not every browser can load one — here is where it works, and what WordySpot still does in the browsers where it cannot.

Safari is the exception: it runs only Safari extensions, which WordySpot does not publish. On a Mac, use one of the browsers above.

Android phones and tablets

Chrome for Android cannot load extensions, but several other Android browsers can, and WordySpot installs on them the same way it does on a desktop.

Chrome, Samsung Internet and most other Android browsers load no extensions at all, so WordySpot cannot run in them. Use one of the above.

iPhone and iPad

Apple allows a browser to run extensions only if it brings its own engine. Two do.

Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on iOS all use Apple's engine and cannot load WordySpot. Your library, word lists and word packs still work in any of them.

Without the extension

Everything on this website works in any browser. Add a book or paste some text and the reader marks the same words, explains them the same way, and saves them to the same lists. What you lose is the rest of the web.

How the extension works Browse word packs

Anything marked Tested has been checked with WordySpot on a real device. The rest run the Chrome or Firefox build and are expected to work, but nobody has confirmed it — if one of them misbehaves, tell me and I will look.
